Welcome to training day one. Today we will discuss how a Dahak generate a prep post as well as the proper use of some different powers.
What is a prep post? A prep post is the lead in post for a battle. Rather the battle is for fun, or for death matches, prep posts are used to detail what the user is doing, their weapons, and so forth.
Because prep posts for a 'fun' battle will vary, we will focus today on death matches (should they happen) and how a prep post might look like.
*** Note *** We do not encourage Death Matches but in rare cases. The purpose of the role-play in the room is not to have Death Matches, but to Role-Play. All Death Matches must meet the criteria on the boards to qualify.
Prep posts should include the following:
1. Where you are standing
2. One power of defense
3. Any weapons or artifacts you have with you - This also includes protective elements (like a helmet).
4. Some inclination your ready for the battle.
The first step is easy enough. You will need to say how close you are with respects to your challenger.
The Second step is done so that you might have one defense in play before the battle begins. Look at your power selection, and pick a single power that serves as a defense only. An Example might be the white flames a soul master has, that protects their own souls. It doesn't become an attack use mode, unless someone touches the flames. That is one of many examples.
The next step is to state all weapons and artifacts. For an example, Randal would mention His Astral Blade, the Metal Rod, and his cloak. His cloak has supernatural properties about it. Please note, if you fail to mention the weapon or artifact in your prep post, you cannot use it in battle. This is for two reasons. One, its unfair!, second we need to keep it as simple as possible for our judges.
The last step is also fairly easy. Just indicate your ready for the battle. An example might look like this ~He holds onto his Astral blade, and he waits~. Ok thats very basic and simple, but it gets to the point.
As JCW says, she knows who wins the battle before it begins by their prep post. So you may want to practice a few. Other ideas to add to your prep post, is to sneak in a little something to make your victim guess at what your up to. Often times JCW (Violet Dahak), throws in something she never intends to actually use to make them focus on something that doesn't even matter.
Also I want to add, the training area, is only visible to Dahaks only. This information will not be visible to outside users. Make sure if you have any questions, to ask them in this part of the message board.
